Compared to traditional private lessons where students meet with a teacher to learn new content for 30 minutes once per week, students in my program can learn new content 7 days per week with step-by-step lessons in my virtual course, THEN come to class to refine what they've learned.
Plus, contrary to popular belief, most kids PREFER to learn together with other kids; that's why most beginner music classes are taught in groups. And when it's done this way, my music classes become the class my students look forward to the most.

About Your Teacher ⭐️
I’m Zach Tolan — musician, teacher, author of Kids Piano Vol. 1-3, and inventor of the patented award-winning Exact Notes™.
For 20+ years, I’ve been a full-time teacher of violin, viola, cello, guitar, ukulele, and piano. I earned a B.A. from Grand Valley State University and have studied music with world-class performers.
- From 2009-2011 I opened my own set of fine arts centers for kids in West Michigan, where I live and teach. Later, I invented a music notation system for young beginners which was awarded a US Patent in 2016.
- Since 2018, I’ve been designing online music courses for students at Niles and Hamilton Community Schools, now used by students around the world.
- In 2022, I published a set of piano books called Kids Piano, Volumes 1-3.
My favorite current project is the new Masterworks Course featuring my research on the curriculum by J.S. Bach, studied by Beethoven as a child, featured here in my TEDx talk, Decoding the Language of Musical Symbolism.
Somehow, all that is the case, AND we still manage to keep EACH class lighthearted, FUN, and, what's the word...? Oh yeah, PLAYFUL!
